Creating the Flutterbies

It all started with some beautifully hand drawn butterflies. All shapes and sizes were explored and drawn in a clear defined way, so that we could look to adapt the style of the sketches and take it further to stylise in a more abstract way. 
Using sable brushes, we started to add some colour and flair. We drew over our original butterfly sketches and used a freehand style to create energy and movement with the brush. The result is these lovely colourful butterflies. Our Flutterbies were ready.

We sourced some beautiful 100% cottons from Portugal, from the finest cotton mill in the country and created a photographic print of our new hand-drawn butterfly print.  Using a white base to really show off the energetic colours of the print we started to test the best finishes of the fabric with our printers.
After several tests we found our favourite and started to produce the fabric so we could start using the cloth to design our new summer 16 collection for our wonderful customers.
